Losing my Instagram account… and how I got it back!

Outfit Inspiration

24 Apr

Dress: J.O.A. Red Lace Twist Back High/Low Midi Dress

Jacket: Capulet Heather Ruffled Denim Jacket

Shoes: Alias Mae Natural Leather Abagail Sandal

Handbag: Tory Burch Camello Perforated Leather Bucket Bag

It has been quite a stressful past few days.  My Instagram account @jenniferlane was hacked and I thought I may have lost my account forever! The hacker changed my phone number on Instagram and blocked my account entirely.  I was not even able to log in to view Instagram for over a week! After about a million emails to Instagram they got my account back to me! Luckily all of my content was still there and nothing was touched….phew! I was scared and anticipating getting my account back blank, thinking the hacker would delete it entirely.  Luckily that was not the case.  Instagram (and my blog) are not only a creative outlet for me, but they are my business.  I’m just so relieved to be back! If you are not already following me on Instagram, please make sure to do so @jenniferlane.

Now on to the outfit…. This red lace dress is so feminine with the hi lo hemline and halter top.  I don’t know why but I love lace and denim styled together, so wearing this denim cropped jacket over it was a no-brainer — especially given the windy Chicago day! I know I’ll be getting a lot of use out of this dress — and I still cannot get over the $98 price tag! The way I styled it here would be perfect for a ladies lunch or a day at the office.  If you want to dress it up a bit, you can throw on a pair of dressier sandals and wear it to a spring or summer wedding.  What do you think? How would you style this red-lace number?

I was born a fashionista… you would think I was wearing a hot pink tulle skirt and a cropped lace blouse, size: newborn. That’s how far back my passion for all things fashion goes — for as long as I can remember. Ever since I was a little girl the creative fashionista fire in me has burned bright, and as I sit here today I have that same spark sizzling on and on….

I think of my style as romantic and feminine — but also creative and accessible. I like to be bold and creative with my outfit choices, styling pieces that one may not think would work with another piece. I believe that confidence comes not only from within, but also how you present yourself on a daily basis. When you walk out the house wearing a cute outfit that you feel good in, you are bound to smile! I hope to give you the confidence to put on that pleated skirt that’s been sitting in the back of your closet and feel like a million bucks prancing around in it!

I hope to instill that same confidence in my precious little princess, Madeline. Taking after her mommy, she already loves playing dress up – and you better believe that she always has a smile on her face!

I have had the pleasure of working with brands such as: Amazon, Anthropologie, Banana Republic, Christian Louboutin, Henri Bendel, Rent the Runway, and REVOLVE Clothing to name just a few. I have been featured in Crain’s Chicago Business, InStyle, and on WGN-TV.

If I give you just one idea for styling an outfit that makes you feel like a million bucks, then I will consider my work a success.
